Host Your Own Open Air Movie Night
Host a memorable fundraiser, corporate event or end-of-year staff party with The Galileo classic picnic-style cinema experience!
We can do private rentals on any day of the week at different venues in Cape Town and the Winelands, subject to availability.
Please note: You may not host this event for profit unless it’s an internal fundraiser, and no tickets may be sold to the public via any online ticketing platform.
Finding the venue for your open-air cinema is your responsibility. We can do this at schools, parks, fields or any open area. Bear in mind that poles, trees and wires block the view so pay attention to these obstacles. If you would like to use one of the normal Galileo venues, then we recommend Kirstenbosch Gardens where we host shows on a regular basis. The advantages of this venue are sufficient parking, bathrooms, lighting, electricity and security. Plus Kirstenbosch is completely sheltered from the wind, so cancelling because of strong wind is not a risk.
If you would like us to do a site visit before confirming with a venue, our fee for inspections is a non-refundable R650, payable upfront.
Movie
We provide the movie and pay the license fee to show it to the public, however, each movie has different guidelines so we cannot guarantee that we may show any movie at all. It is, therefore, a good idea to give us at least three options in case your first choice is not approved. Getting license rights can take a few weeks too so the sooner you let us know your selection, the better and kindly note that we only apply for licensing once the 50% deposit has been paid. Please do not advertise the movie until you have confirmation from our side that the title has been approved.

Price
Rental: Price on request
Travel: R6,50 ex VAT per km for venues further than 30km from Pinelands, Cape Town.
Terms & Conditions
- Payment of 50% is required at time of booking and balance of 50% two weeks before the show takes place. We cannot reserve the date unless the deposit has been made.
- Cancellations within 4 weeks of show incur a 25% fee, within 3 weeks of show a 50% fee, within 2 weeks of show a 75% fee and within 48 hours a 100% fee.
- You will need a back-up date in case we have to cancel due to inclement weather. Date changes do not incur any additional fees, as long as the move is confirmed before 11am on the day of the show. If the show cancelled after 11am on the day of the event, full payment is due.
